The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented devastation to India, transforming streets outside medical facilities into chaotic scenes of desperation. Atulya Foundation took decisive action to combat the crisis, ensuring that no community was left behind in this fight. Through a combination of relief, prevention, awareness, and care, we reached over 12,000 frontline workers, migrant labourers, daily wage earners, slum dwellers, and COVID-positive patients during its COVID-19 relief campaigns.
The second wave was especially alarming for Jugasana Kalan Village, Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh. With a population of 3,000 and over 600 households, the surge in COVID-19 cases left the community anxious and vulnerable. We launched the 'Covid Mukti Abhiyan', a comprehensive 3-pronged initiative focussing on Prevention, Awareness and Cure.
Prevention: Sanitation Drive
A 3-day sanitation drive was conducted in partnership with Krest Facilitators Private Limited. The team sanitised: Inside and outside of all houses, Roads, schools, dispensaries, and the community center. Posters outlining COVID-19 guidelines were displayed across the village, reinforcing the importance of hygiene and safety protocols.

Awareness: Training and Care Camp
We conducted an 11-day door-to-door training and care camp to educate the community on critical aspects of the pandemic:
Understanding key terms like isolation, quarantine, and pandemic
Precautionary measures: hand washing, social distancing, and mask-wearing
Identifying symptoms: distinguishing mild, moderate, and severe cases
Dispelling vaccination myths and emphasising its safety and necessity
Our trainers provided scientific evidence to counter misinformation, encouraging villagers to register for vaccination through CoWIN. Their efforts led to a significant shift in perception, with many community members opting for vaccination after initial hesitancy.
Cure: Oxygen Concentrators and Plasma Donor Bank
Beyond rural outreach, Atulya Foundation extended support to urban areas by: Donating oxygen concentrators to patients in critical need; Establishing a plasma donor database among Capital India employees to facilitate emergency transfusions.
We have also supported Medanta hospital, and District administration of Bulandshahr during the pandemic with the required monetary support. Atulya Foundation recognizes that fighting a pandemic is a collective responsibility. While government efforts play a pivotal role, socially responsible organizations must contribute meaningfully. Through our COVID-19 relief campaigns, we demonstrated how grassroots efforts, combined with corporate resources, can help mitigate the impact of a global crisis.
During the second COVID-19 wave, Atulya Foundation supported our village with sanitation drives, awareness camps, and essential medical aid like oxygen concentrators. Their quick response and efforts to spread vaccination awareness helped keep our community safe in a challenging time.
